TWO Armidale choir singers will take to the world stage in China this year to represent the Asia-Pacific region.
Eleanor Logan and Oliver Bruhl, both in Year Nine, were selected last November to join the Gondwana Voices choir at the World Choral Summit in China.
“I was really hoping I would get into Gondwana Voices,” Oliver said.
“So when I read the first line of the letter we received - ‘you’ve been chose by Gondwana Voices to go to China’ - I was like, ‘yes!’.”
Eleanor was in the previous Gondwana Voices choir and said she had fond memories of the experience.
“I have really good friends that live in Perth that I met last year and we have become really close,” Eleanor said.
The two Duval High School students have been involved in singing and the school choir for years.
To be selected to join the elite choir they had to compete against other signers at the New England Conservatorium of Music last year.
The duo will link up with the rest of the choir in Sydney on July 5.
After a concert in Sydney the Gondwana Voices will leave Australia on July 10 to fly to Guangzhou, the largest city in southern China.
They will put on another performance there before heading up to the World Choral Summit in Beijing, which will run from July 15 to 21.
The summit will be watched by an estimated 10 million people, including worldwide television audiences.
