THE Inverell Cup which was washed out on New Year’s Day has been given a new date. It will now be held on Sunday, June 13 of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. Racing NSW informed the Inverell Jockey Club on Friday, February 12.
“The fact that it is on the long weekend is excellent as it gives people an extra day to drive home,” said jockey club secretary Leonie Moffitt. “It will be a TAB meeting with all the perks that came with the original date, though people will have to wear their winter gear instead of their summer clothes. The Calcutta will be on the Saturday night and I have already put feelers out among the trainers to support the event and the response to date has been great.”
