THE END of the spring racing season is nigh and a non-TAB race meeting will get underway at 1.45pm tomorrow with the Panasonic Maiden Handicap.
Armidale horse and Melbourne Cup day meeting winner Black Beema will run in the Westinghouse Benchmark 45 handicap under the experienced eye of local trainer Frank Tanner.
Fellow local Lea Selby will field Bruno Twenty Two with capable jockey Allan Chau at the helm.
Armidale Jockey Club president Jim Dedes said the race meeting would include an impressive field of horses from Ballina, Port Macquarie, Scone, Muswellbrook and Moree.
“We will have some leading jockeys from across the state,” he said.
Track conditions are expected to be hard and fast for the five-race meeting, which concludes with the Retravision Benchmark Handicap at 4.25pm.
