IT WAS poor bowling that gave Armidale representative captain Adam O’Sullivan headaches during last week’s first-round win over Inverell, but on Sunday it was a disappointing showing with the willow that gave him something to think about.
Armidale made just 137 in their SCG Country Cup clash with Gunnedah, but fortunately for the locals it was more than enough, as they recovered to dismiss the opposition for 119.
Matt Foster was the difference between the two sides, hitting an unbeaten 59 off 46 balls to add some much-needed runs to the Armidale total.
O’Sullivan also praised the keeping efforts of Shaun Brennan.
The win sets up a third-round encounter with defending champions Tamworth on November 15.
The cup holders had a nine-wicket win over Muswellbrook on Sunday.
Before that match Armidale host Narrabri in the War Veteran’s Cup on Sunday.
There are two changes heading into that match, with Mick Schaefer and Steven Butler both unavailable.
Liam Smith and Cameron Wood will both come in for the Narrabri match.
“It’s nearly our full-strength side,” O’Sullivan said.
“This week our bowling clicked, last week it was our batting, if we can put it all together we should keep going well.”
