New fixture for schoolboy cricket

02 Nov, 2009 09:28 AM
TODAY will see the first round of a new addition to the local cricketing calendar – the Toad Cup.

The cup is an inter-school Twenty/20 competition, with the name taken from the first letter of each high school competing – The Armidale School, O’Connor Catholic College, Armidale High School and Duval High School.

Each school will play each other once with the top two teams qualifying for the final.

At this stage finals day (March 1) will involve third and fourth playing from 4pm and straight after this game first and second will play the final under lights from 7pm.

This will be an exciting event for Armidale and all schools involved.

Today’s first round action sees TAS hosting Armidale High School and Duval facing off against O’Connor at Moran Oval.

Spectators are encouraged to come along and see some action-packed cricket from some of the area’s best young players.
