A SURVEY of the New England electorate conducted by MP Tony Windsor has provided much appreciated feedback on many issues.
Respondents have shown support to extend the youth allowance to inner regional areas, for voluntary euthanasia and poker machine reforms, while opposing same sex marriage.
Respondents were also asked for feedback on what they would like to see included in the upcoming Tax Review Summit.
Strong backing was received for discussion of a Mining Resource Rent Tax, a Super Profits Tax on banks, zonal taxation incentives, a denticare levy, research and development initiatives, excise on fuel, cigarettes and other excises and a Natural Disaster levy, while people also indicated support for discussion of Stamp duties and State taxes and the medicare levy.
Mr Windsor conducts regular surveys of his electorate as part of his deliberation process which also includes obtaining drilling down to details not always presented objectively to the public.
“I’m delighted that more than 1600 people in the New England have taken the time to tell me what they think about a range of issues.
“This feedback is of great assistance as I work with the government to negotiate better outcomes for both our region and the country itself.
“However, it is not the only source of information feedback that goes into my deliberations.
“I would like to thank everybody who participated in the survey.
“As always, people are welcome to pass on further comments through my office.”
