ANTIQUE buffs will have a smorgasbord of items to check out at the annual Quota Craftarama this weekend.
Almost 30 craftspeople will be represented at Craftarama, to be held at Armidale City Bowling Club. The event will run from 9am to 5.30pm tomorrow and from 9 to 4 on Sunday.
The main fundraiser for Quota International of Armidale Inc, the two-day antique showcase will feature a wide range of craft.
Stalls will include patchwork quilts, folk art, fabric sculpture, country clothes, Christmas cakes, jams and pickles, crystals, jewellery, crochet and felted clothes and handmade children’s clothing as well as the traditional crafts.
Lace making demonstrations will also be given.
Entertainment will be provided by the NEGS choir and the TAS Band, performing at midday and 2pm each day, while Italian opera singer David de Vito will perform at 1 o’clock tomorrow.
Quotarians have been busy at working bees getting their craft items ready for their own stall at Craftarama.
Coordinator Anne Simpson said many Armidale businesses had provided sponsorship as well as goods for the silent auction.
Over the years funds raised by Craftarama have been used to provide a scholarship to a university student with hearing impairment, a mobile kitchen for the local Rural Fire Brigade, and garden furniture at Ascent (formally known as Challenge Foundation).
This year funds will go to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and ongoing Quota community projects.
Admission prices are $5 for adults with children under 12 free (tickets at the door).
