AMNESTY’S Armidale - UNE Group will hold its first 2010 meeting tomorrow, after taking a break late last year.
The meeting will take place upstairs at the Wicklow Hotel at 7.30pm.
Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
Liz Prior will begin the meeting, giving feedback from the O-Week stall, and group members will delegate roles and finalise the calendar of activities for the year.
Chris Cull will also give a short talk on his recent trip to New Orleans and Death Row at Angola prison, where he met with an inmate.
Mr Cull will outline the workings of the US legal system (relevant to capital punishment) and discuss those that provide voluntary legal aid to those caught in the system.
A number of Amnesty members will also attend a speech by Justice Michael Donald Kirby, AC, CMG on March 18, from 2.30 to 3.30pm at the Armidale Bowling Club.
No booking is required for Justice Kirby’s speech and entry is by donation.
If you have any queries phone Chris Cull on 6772-0642.
