The next meeting of Poetzinc,to be held at the Railway Hotel on Tuesday, will feature readings from the Hunter’s Poetry at the Pub (PATP) poets.
PATP has been going now for at least a quarter of a century and is one of the longest-running regional writing groups in the state.
The night will include the launch of PATP’s new anthology Semaphore Dancing, in which some of Armidale poets feature, as readers.
Local readers for the evening include Brian Neville and Michael Sharkey.
The Hunter’s PATP poets visiting include David Gunson, who started writing poetry in 2002.
Many of his poems were inspired by his travels in India in 2007.
Other poems respond to life and landscape in the Hunter region.
Another PATP poet, Kathryn Glasgow, started performing while studying in Canberra in a group called ‘Dreams of a Limegreen Catsuit’.
She now performs regularly in Sydney.
She describes her poetry as abstract, contemporary, confessional and dark.
Jan Dean’s poetry collection With One Brush connects art and memoir, and was published by Interactive Press as the winner of its Best First Book competition in 2007.
With One Brush was also short-listed in the 2008 Mary Gilmore Award.
Clark Gormley is a poet and singer-songwriter.
