GUYRA Central School is to get a new science centre.
The school received funding of $1,969,108 under the Science and Language Centres for 21st Century Secondary Schools (SLC) element of the Building the Education Revolution (BER).
Guyra Central is one of 10 more New England schools to be included in the program, receiving a total of $11,908,562 to build new or refurbished science laboratories and language centres or dual facilities.
Senator Doug Cameron said SLC is delivering an important phase of the Rudd Government’s $14.7 billion Building the Education Revolution.
“This important element of BER will deliver much needed funding to secondary schools that have demonstrated their school’s disadvantage and need through a competitive process,” he said.
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) is working with education authorities in relation to a number of other applications from schools which are yet to be finalise the costings for their projects.
Applications for round three of Primary Schools for the 21st Century close on Friday, and will see all remaining eligible Australian schools receive funding.
